The only international gateway into Bhutan is Paro International Airport. Druk Air (the national airline) and Bhutan Airlines are the exclusive carriers, providing flights into Paro from key regional cities including New Delhi, Kolkata, Bodh Gaya, Bagdogra, and Guwahati in India; Dhaka in Bangladesh; Kathmandu in Nepal; Bangkok in Thailand; and Singapore. Subsidized Airfare for International Tourists

As of the latest updates, the Bhutanese government has introduced a subsidized airfare program to help make travel more accessible for international tourists. This new initiative aims to make Bhutan more affordable and attractive by addressing high airfare costs, with reduced round-trip rates such as USD 810 for flights between Paro and Bangkok. This fare reduction is part of a broader plan to boost tourism post-pandemic alongside a 50% reduction in the daily Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which has now been lowered from USD 200 to USD 100 per day BBSCL

Domestic Flights within Bhutan

In addition to international flights, Bhutan’s airlines offer domestic flights to connect different parts of the country. Currently, flights are available from Paro to Bumthang in central Bhutan, and routes to Tashigang (eastern Bhutan) and Gelephu (southern Bhutan) will open once renovations at those airports are complete.
